Artist statement

One thing that has always fascinated me, for as long as I can remember, is people who act inconsiderately; not only through sheer ignorance of others, but also cruelty and meanness. I can't fathom the ways in which some people will act as though those around them don't matter. I can't fathom it. I have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with finding and understanding points of view that cause people to think of others as inferior or unworthy: not just reactionary mindsets, but also just incredibly stubborn or self-centered people. (I can sometimes count as one myself). This film strives to depict this lack of consideration--common, if not enforced in our society--in terms of how it affects the two main characters, who only want to reach their place of peace at the end of a day of chaos.

Though this film can't be rightfully described as "autobiographical", it is inspired by a certain fairly recent period of my life, and I think this is where the appeal comes from; at least one large element of the story--the long distance relationship, the arduous commute, the interactions with strangers, the catastrophic fantasies, the Skyping--will be relatable to a given audience member.
